It’s winter! This means you survived your entire fall semester or, if you’re not in college, you just made it to winter, which is still a huge accomplishment. Winter weather can be rough and the holidays can be extremely busy so it’s important you remember to treat yourself and take care of yourself.
1. Plan a fun adventure
Whether it be a short road trip to the town over, a trip to the outlets across town or even an Escape The Room room, adventures are wonderful. If you’re near NYC I recommend visiting The Taylor Swift Experience which I’m going to in January or Bite Beauty Lab which I went to last year!

2. Get a manicure/pedicure
Bring a friend, sister or mom and get a fresh coat of polish! If you’re ballin’ on a budget, a DIY mani-pedi is also just as easy and still a great way to treat yourself this winter.
3. Wrap your holiday gifts extra specially and intricately this year
I love numbering gifts and putting little notes inside of them explaining the gift or writing something cute. For example, a beanie would be paired with, “So your head stays toasty :).” This is so much fun to do and though it is time-consuming, it shows so much effort.
You can also use hand-painted kraft paper to wrap your gifts or even create gift baskets as a fun way to package your gifts instead of wrapping paper or a gift bag.

4. Watch a documentary.
Feed your MIND! This doesn’t sound like a treat but it can be, especially if you watch a documentary on something you’re interested in. There’s seriously a documentary for everyone. There are plenty of food ones and fashion ones on Netflix.

5. Buy cute boots.
This isn’t always in the stars (or in the budget), but there are plenty of boot sales or affordable boots, especially with those after-Christmas sales. Also, a great money saving tip that just saved me $80 on a pair of Timberland boots is asking if they have the kid’s version of your shoe size. My shoe size is a 7.5-8 and I was able to get a kid’s size 6, which meant getting the same boot for way cheaper. I felt much better about splurging on boots!
6. Do that thing you’ve been meaning to do but haven’t done.
Is it watching Game of Thrones? Organizing your makeup collection? Reconnecting with your high school crush? Whatever it is, do it. If you’re not sure of things you might want to do, check out my productive things to do over winter break post for some ideas!
7. Use a bath bomb.
Be sure to shamelessly take a video and photo of your beautiful bath. If LUSH is too pricey for you, Target and Etsy have affordable bath bombs as well. If you don’t have a bathtub or bath bomb, add a nice DIY bath scrub to your shower routine and do a face mask.
8. Change up your scents and light a candle.
I don’t know about you, but autumn and winter scented candles and wallflowers are my favorite. Light a candle or plug in a nice, new scent to make your room smell extra luxurious and lovely. This may not seem like a way to treat yourself this winter, but candles add a great ambiance and make everything feel special.
9. Bake something delicious.
I know for some of you baking sounds like a lot more work than it does sound like treating yourself, but there are some recipes that require minimal effort (ie: chocolate covered Oreos). Bake something you’ve been drooling over on Pinterest and snack on it while you watch your favorite shows or videos. If you’re extra lazy, buy a snack you usually don’t buy but really love.
10. Catch up on Vlogmas videos.
Your watch list is probably incredibly long if you, too, enjoy YouTube. Watching these are so relaxing to me and I love to watch them while I’m doing my makeup or nails. My favorite Vlogmases this month have been Caitlyn Bea and Jenna Marbles.

11. Re-read your favorite book.
If you don’t have a favorite book to re-read, try reading a new one. This can be entirely free if you head to the library and choose a few books off of the shelf. You can also treat yourself to a new book and a coffee at your local bookstore and spend some time reading alone.

12. Color
Adult coloring books as a trend sort of phased out, but that doesn’t make them any less fun. Even if you don’t have a coloring book, you can easily print out some coloring pages online for free. This is very relaxing and can lead to some pretty results.
I love to finally sit down a binge watch my favorite shows on Netflix! (or try a new one!) I’m also a bookworm, so I always make sure to pick up a few books at my local library. 🙂
I love getting to head to the library when I’m home on winter break, nothing beats browsing shelves of free books that don’t take up dust and space on your bookshelves hahaha
I love getting to do things that have been on my list forever and I just haven’t had time! Happy holidays!!

Me too! It’s so relaxing to do the less work-intensive things on your list. Happy holidays to you, too 🙂
Agreed: mani-pedi always puts me in a great mood. Especially if combined with massage!! 🙂

That sounds perfect! I definitely need to do that soon
YES to the boot trick!!!! I recently went shopping for a pair of North Face waterproof snow boots and the cost in women’s sizes was $160 but I fit perfectly into a kid’s size so I only paid $70! And I just DIY’d bath bombs! They have become my new winter obsession, haha! Greta post! =)
