10 ways to update beauty routine for winter - winter beauty routine guide #ad

Winter is coming — and, there’s no Jon Snow. Just dryer skin, chapped lips, and dull skin. Somehow my paleness is even more noticeable once the seasons change.

As winter slowly approaches I change up my wardrobe and, of course, my daily beauty routine. Here are some tips for updating your beauty routine for winter.

1. Keep hand lotion in your purse, at your desk, and in your living room.

I love the travel-sized ones. Keeping lotion in all of the places you are the most means there are no excuses when it comes to keeping your skin hydrated. It can also be handy to keep lotion near your sinks because washing your hands often (Hellooo cold and flu season) can also dry out your skin.

2. Add wet n wild’s MegaGlo Body Luminizer to your routine.

I like to mix wet n wild’s MegaGlo Body Luminizer with some lotion and put it to my collarbone and chest. The MegaGlo Body Luminizer is really lightweight and it contains a bunch of moisturizing oils that feel refreshing during the winter. They’re under $10 and sold exclusively at Walmart. Plus, they come in three shades: Heart of Rosegold, Gold Rush and Invested in Bronze. The Heart of Gold is my favorite.

The glow seriously lasts for hours and it looks really pretty because it has micro-fine pearl pigments. This is a swatch of the shade Heart of Gold before blending it. I mean, look how freakin’ pretty it is!

The tiny pearl pigments look amazing in the sun, with flash, and under the glow of holiday lights. Sometimes I dab a little bit extra onto my cheekbones to help make my highlight pop.

Plus, as a bonus, all shades are all cruelty-free, gluten-free, and paraben free. And the gold and bronze shades are also vegan.

3. Swap out your lip colors.

Cooler months are the perfect time to embrace darker lip colors that aren’t as common in the summertime. Winter is my favorite time of year to wear berry tones and dark reds.

I also try to wear more creamy lip colors because liquid lip colors can feel extra drying in the winter.

4. Use setting spray and powder.

Especially if you’re starting to bundle up in winter wear, like hats and scarves. No need to leave foundation and bronzer stains on your accessories.

5. Wear long-wearing lip colors.

I notice that if I’m not wearing a long-wearing lip color and I am wearing a scarf to cover my face, my scarf will get lipstick all over it! So, in the winter, I try to skip glossy lip colors and stick to lip stains or lipsticks that I know won’t rub off on fabric.

6. Use a more intense moisturizer.

I switch up my skincare routine just a bit once it starts to get cold. My skin definitely feels a bit drier during the wintertime, so I use the extra-hydrating moisturizers that I typically don’t need in the summer.

7. Keep lip balm in your purse or coat pocket.

They’re pretty easy to lose, so you may want to buy a multipack or keep a few scattered across your go-to purses and coats. Your future self will probably thank you.

8. Apply lotion as soon as you get out of the shower.

Chances are you won’t do it when you’re shivering and out. Plus, you can mix wet n wild’s MegaGlo Body Luminizer with your favorite lotion for a really nice glow, especially if you’re attending a special event or date after.

9. Swap out your summer scents for seasonal ones.

Hurrah! Time for sugar cookie smells and vanilla! I like to push my summer-y scents to the back of my dresser and pull all of the holiday ones forward. It almost feels like you bought new fragrances, but you’re really just rotating your collection.

10. Toss some expired summer makeup.

The mascara you bought in June that smells kind of weird? Yeah, toss it. Around this time of year, I like to comb through my makeup collection and toss products I know I bought at the very beginning of summer if they’re starting to seem a bit off. Generally, this only applies to mascara or certain lip products. Most makeup products have a pretty great shelf life, but now is a great time to check in on products you remember buying quite a few months ago.

Plus, it can help you to decide which things you need or want to buy for Black Friday and Cyber Monday. I have my eye on a few eyeshadow palettes, but I know for a fact that I don’t need any lipsticks whatsoever.

P.S. You can find the wet n wild MegaGlo Body Luminizer exclusively at Walmart
