5 things I’m glad I did before turning 24

Here are things I'm glad I did before 24 / things to do in your 20s

Here are things I’m glad I did before 24 / things to do in your 20s

I’m turning 24 in just two weeks. First of all, 2020 has both flown and dragged by. I can’t believe it’s almost over (but the pandemic and everything will still be dragging into 2021, I’m not in denial about that).

It’s wild to see how much the world has changed and I’ve changed in these past few months and years. Have you ever looked through your old computers and phones? I was just looking through my laptop from 2014 to 2016 or so and I couldn’t believe all of the writings and thoughts and photos I’d completely forgotten about.

I think sometimes we change so gradually and grow so subtly that it’s easy to forget how far we’ve come. Anyway, as another birthday approaches, I’ve started thinking about a few things I’m glad I’ve done. Maybe it’ll inspire you or make you reflect.

Here are things I’m glad I did before 24:

Thoughts on…trusting your gut (and chance)

Lately — with the whole massive global pandemic going on and everything — I’ve been thinking a lot about my career and how much it’s keeping me sane and bringing me joy. I almost chose a very different one, and being where I am and seeing how the world is has made me so grateful that I eventually followed my gut.

17 things I’ve learned about myself and my life during this pandemic

17 things I've learned about myself and my life during this pandemic // ew & pt

Wow, it’s been a minute. Well, it’s literally been over a month. I’m in New York (where the pandemic is very, very bad) and for the past month I’ve been in a lockdown, self-isolating and working from home.

Video calls aside, I haven’t seen or interacted with anyone besides my parents and cats for the past month. It’s tough, but I know it’s for the best and I’m lucky to be able to work from home and have a home!

Anyway, while being home for weeks and weeks I’ve started to learn a lot of things about myself and whatnot. Here are some things I’ve learned during the pandemic … without getting political. I can’t even begin to discuss what’s going on in terms of healthcare, laws, and legislature!

The 4 lists everyone should make

120

It’s been a hot minute! I had a half-written post but I spent three days opening and closing it so, uh, I’m putting that aside for now. February was a pretty garbage month. I spent most of it being extremely stressed, sort of lost, and just generally UGH. By the time the last week of the month hit, my friend and I had a daily countdown until the shortest, worst month of the year was over.

For such a short month, it was largely crappy. A lot of things were thrown my way. At one point I even cried in Union SquParkpark (and saw a rat but was too busy crying to care, and the rat was actually cute? But maybe it’s because I was crying). I sent CAPS LOCK TEXT MESSAGES to a bunch of friends. I didn’t do a lot of things I’d planned to do. I have about 4 unfinished to-do lists shoved in my room somewhere right now.

But, you know, it’s March now.  And last month made me sort of think about what things can help me get out of a bad mood. And about the things put me in a bad mood and why they’re able to do that. I thought about what can I actually control and why exactly I spend a lot of time stressing about that I can’t do anything about…

So I made four lists on a whim and they made me feel better. And they were surprisingly easy to make Here some lists to make (and the ones I made) and why they might just help you feel a bit better and a bit more sane.
