Spring is finally here! The weather is finally not cold enough to make one wish for hellfire. Pastels are finally socially acceptable again and let me tell YOU, no matter how ghastly pale I am I will be rocking pastels all season long. In fact, as I type, my nails are a light pastel green and my toes are polished with pastel blue.
Anyway, Spring means warmer clothes, pastels and the works. Here are some spring wardrobe essentials to help you prepare your wardrobe for warmer, greener seasons.
This shirt is perfect over a cute spring dress or just paired with black leggings, a statement necklace and flats. It’s incredibly classic and versatile.
2. Floral dress
Perfect for getting brunch, going on a date or even just running errands. Florals are perfect for spring and dresses are finally weather appropriate without freezing your legs off or having to wear thick tights, yay!
I collect a.k.a hoard heart shaped sunglasses, I do. Statement sunglasses are so fun and they top off any outfit effortlessly. Oversized cat eyes or laser cut sunnies are another fun option, but I’m a sucker for the heart eyes. Never tried any statement pieces before? Time to try refreshing your style. You don’t have to make a major statement, even simple metal heart shaped frames are fun without being too wild.
4. White Vans
Cue the “Daaaamn Daniel, back at it again with the white Vans!” culture reference, right? I’ve been an avid fan of white Vans since BEFORE they were cool, a la hipster. White Vans are perfect for dressing down a dress or just pairing with jeans or leggings. They are such a comfortable walking shoe and they’re incredibly versatile. They are the quintessential spring shoe.
5. Romper
I’ve always been incredibly doubtful of rompers. I tried on two that looked God-awful but finally in Forever 21 I found the most beautiful pale blue romper and since then I have been an avid fan. They have REAL pockets, not the super shallow girl pockets and they’re so comfortable. Every girl needs a cozy romper–fact.
6. Rain Jacket
Blah blah April showers, right? NOTE: Make sure your freaking rain jacket is waterproof. I didn’t know that non-waterproof rain jackets were a thing either until last summer. I wore a cheap but cute supposedly waterproof raincoat from Forever 21 to my internship and ended up entirely drenched through my coat. Gross.
Honestly, scallops are just so darn adorable. A scallop hemmed skirt is perfect for spring, isn’t it? While I would personally opt for black (as pictured above), a nice pastel color would also be a beautiful spring wardrobe essential.
A fun pair of nude wedge sandals are perfect for dressing up jeans or a fun dress. They’re versatile and somewhat comfortable shoes that can be paired with most outfits. Spring means it’s finally time to let your cute pedicure be seen by the world, yay!
9. Brightly Colored Crossbody Bag
How cute is that coral striped one from Kate Spade? Swooon. Bright colors are perfect for spring and a bright crossbody is the perfect pop of color to any outfit. If you’re not feeling like a splurge, there are a ton of places to buy inexpensive accessories that can get you through the season.
