Your Ultimate Guide to the Perfect Lazy Day

Your Ultimate Guide to the Perfect Lazy Day // eyeliner wings & pretty things

Fact: Everyone needs at least one lazy day. It’s usually hard for us to take time out of our busy lives to just lounge around and do nothing but for the sake of your sanity, it’s a wise decision. Even if you can’t dedicate your entire day to lazing around, here’s your guide to the perfect lazy day.

So, throw your hair up in a messy bun (or ponytail), bust out your coziest pajamas and get ready for the ultimate day of laziness.

Pampering

1. Give yourself a manicure and pedicure.

Choose your absolute favorite polish and take your time filing, shaping and painting your nails. If you’re feeling ambitious, try some nail designs! Perhaps a Kate Spade inspired mani would suit you.

2. Use a pore strip.

Bioré ones are my favorite. These clean and supposedly slightly minimize the pores on your nose. There’s no better feeling than ripping them off and seeing what was in your pores. Gross, but we all do it. Yay for clean skin!

3. Use a face mask.

I’m a fan of peel-off face masks like the ones Freeman makes—it reminds me of elementary school days of peeling dried glue off of your hands and having that very self-satisfied feeling. If you don’t have any facial masks on hand, you can also DIY some, there are a ton of DIY face masks. Just be SUPER careful. You do not want an allergic reaction and you don’t want to put certain ingredients on your face for certain skin types.

If you’re feeling ambitious, try multi-masking–basically using different masks for different areas of your space. If your T-zone is oilier, use a mask that combats oily skin on that area and if your cheeks are dry use a moisturizing mask on them and so on.

If you’re feeling social, make your lazy day an at-home group lazy spa day with your friends!

4. Take a long, hot shower.

But make sure you moisturize afterwards because hot water can totally dry out your skin. Nothing beats a hot shower, am I right? Bonus if you use a hair mask or conditioning treatment on your hair!

5. Put on your coziest outfit.

I’m talking the whole nine yards–fuzzy sucks, pajama pants, oversized T-shirts…combine all of your coziest pieces into one perfect lazy day outfit.

Relaxing & Leisure

1.Watch movies on Netflix.

I recommend The Virgin Suicides for something interesting and intense and Dirty Girl for something funny and light. High School Musical is great if you’re feeling like watching a throwback to your childhood, 13 Going on 30 if you want a Rom-Com and The Breakfast Club is a classic that you can never go wrong with. Nothing beats watching some Netflix.

2. Read a book or magazine.

I love curling up with the newest Seventeen or NYLON magazine, those are the best! I also love a good book, I recently finished “The Happiness Project” by Gretchen Rubin and it definitely was inspiring, motivational and thoroughly entertaining. If you’re looking for a funny read, “Is everyone hanging out without me (and other concerns)” by Mindy Kailing is one of my absolute favorite books.

3. Read blogs & watch YouTube videos.

My Bloglovin’ feed is always jam-packed with blog posts I want to read and my YouTube “Watch Later” playlist is absolutely flooded. Take this time to read all of the blogs you love and watch videos you’ve been meaning to watch!

4. Play some games.

I’ve personally never played Candy Crush, but if that’s your jam then play it! If you love a good old fashioned board game, bust out Monopoly and play it with your family. Dust off the Wii and play some Just Dance, one of my absolute favorite Wii games. Spend time doing some mindless game playing, it’s always a fun time.

5. Do some Online shopping (or make a wishlist).

Online shopping is literally the best.  Even if you don’t have the funds to buy the things in your cart, why not just look around and pin the things you hope to buy later? Maybe add some of these items to your birthday wishlist!

6. Hit Pinterest.

This is seriously addictive and you could spend hours on Pinterest without even noticing. You can explore new topics, discover new DIYs or even end up sorting and re-organizing your boards. It’s a bottomless pit of entertainment.

7. Make a playlist & jam to it.

Create a playlist of all of the songs that make you happy! For me, Ed Sheeran’s “Gold Rush” never fails to lighten my mood. “Rhythm of Love” by the Plain White Ts and “Never Come Back Again” by Austin Plaine are also tracks that never fail to make me smile. I also love listening to old One Direction songs from Up All Night and Take Me Home—nothing makes me jam harder than some throwback 1D!

8. Bake & eat your delicious results.

For those who love to bake, like moi, you might want to try one of your favorite recipes or some intricate ones you pinned on Pinterest and have been totally meaning to do. For those who are less ambitious and not as culinarily talented, a box of brownie mix or tub of cookie dough is a perfect alternative. Then enjoy your delicious results as you watch Netflix and pamper yourself—it’s only fair!
