The Best Places to Buy Inexpensive Accessories (& My Picks!)

Best Places to Buy Inexpensive Accessories - eyeliner wings & pretty things

As much as we’d all love to rock diamond Cartier earrings and pearl necklaces all day, I doubt our budget allows for that. For ladies like me who love wearing a different necklace on the daily and can’t seem to commit to a pricey jewelry piece (for fear of losing it, oops), I’ve gathered up 5 of my favorite places to purchase inexpensive accessories.

I’m Basically A Mogul Now

eyelinerwingsandprettythings // I got Hosted and joined Her Campus Premier Blogger Network!

Okay, well, I don’t exactly know what “mogul” means. Kimora Lee Simmons is/was a mogul and a lot of important businesswomen seem to be. I’m totally stretching it. I’m not a mogul but I DID just make an investment in my blog. I got hosted with BlueHost and I also have other exciting news…

I also got accepted into the HerCampus Premier Blogger Network which is super awesome. They choose some awesome blogs to join the network and have some special opportunities.

Basically this post was to share some recent exciting changes, I feel like such a grown up right now. Grown ups probably don’t wear socks with watermelon on them and eat cookies for breakfast, though. Oops.

MOTD: Patriotic Makeup for 4th of July

Wearable 4th of July Patriotic MOTD Makeup Look // eyelinerwingsandprettythings

Hi everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful 4th of July filled with fireworks and barbecue (or maybe just sitting at home, whatever works for you). I wanted to share my surprisingly wearable but also patriotic 4th of July makeup look! The look is also featuring my simple but festive nails!

I originally tried doing a funky winged eyeliner look using the NYX White Liquid Liner that is SO opaque but that was a train wreck. Disclaimer: Apparently you cannot layer eye shadows over the eyeliner, they look cracked and are not opaque. I decided to just trash that look and make up a new one (with only ten minutes to spare).

I ended up with this look that’s basically white shadows with red and blue in the crease. There’s some sparkle over the white (it’s hard to see) and the rest of my makeup remained fairly neutral with a matte red lip to top it off.

For this look, it made a huge difference when I used a light gray to shade the crease of the white and I also used a darker red and a navy to blend the crease of the red and blue accents. I also used my favorite neutral shimmer to blend out the red and blue—also a key point.

Anyways, that was my look! It lasted the entire day (although the lips faded) and I’m really happy with how it turned out! I wish I knew how to apply false lashes–they would’ve been perfect for this look.

The Intern Diaries: How To Find An Internship

the intern diaries - eyelinerwingsandprettythings

Okay, first of all you’re probably wondering “What makes this chick qualified to tell me how to find an internship?” Good question. Although I probably don’t have any credentials that qualify me to give such advice, I have already had two internships and I’m only just becoming a Sophomore in college. Plus, they’ve both been internships relevant to my dream career that are also portfolio-building. I also found both on my own without any help of my college. (Honestly, college career centers don’t seem to be too helpful when it comes to getting internships. At least not to me.)

So, I’m not your career advisor or guidance counselor or whatever the hell you call those intern-finding people but I can totally help you find internships with these tips. They’ll probably help you at least a tiny bit.
