Are you a risk taker? I’m sure as hell not. I hate gambling, I like knowing the future and I’m constantly anxious about everything. Therefore, risks are terrifying to me. In fact, it’s taken me years to even build up the courage to take makeup risks.
Makeup is something I’ve deeply loved since the end of middle school and taking risks with it always felt too frightening. In fact, I religiously stuck to petal pink lipstick (gloss if I felt daring) throughout the majority of high school. I didn’t wear red lipstick for the longest time because I was afraid of pulling it off, even though plenty of fair-skinned people pull it off every day (Uh, Taylor Swift!?).
I’d also like to point out that although I was shy with lip colors, I would casually wear silver smokey eyes and rainbow eye shadow to class in high school…clearly, my logic was skewed. I mean, I’d be headed to class with full on glitter on my eyelids but would be frightened to try red lipstick. Brilliant.
Fast forward a few years and I’m wearing lavender matte, metallic bronze and even brown. I also hate lip gloss now, but that’s another story.
In terms of beauty risks, a new one I took this year was false eyelashes. While it still takes me far too long to apply them and I poke myself in the eye too often, I can now officially claim the ability to put them on and wear them. Is it just me or do false eyelashes look adorable?! I didn’t want to remove them from the package.
I think I can officially state that I’ve fallen in love with false eyelashes, even though they don’t always love me. It started when I used them for the first time on my Neutrogena Holiday Look and only strengthened when I whipped them out for NYFW.
So, when given the opportunity to receive some lashes from Private Label Extensions, a 3D Mink lash wholesaler, I jumped on it. Let me just say, these Private Label Extension 3D Mink Lashes are gorgeous. I received the pairs “Violet” and “Chloe,” with Violet being the more dramatic of the two. The lashes are incredibly soft and can be reused 20-25 times so they’re well worth the price. I officially understand why people spend a little bit extra on their lashes. There’s a huge difference between these and super inexpensive drugstore lashes.
In the picture above I’m wearing the Chloe lashes, which are light and perfect for more casual and natural looks. They felt really nice on the eyes and made my lashes look incredibly thick and long. Below, I’m rocking the Violet lashes, which are incredibly glam and dramatic. Though they were pretty heavy and hard to adjust to at first, they looked incredible in photos and were fine after I got used to them. I’m in love with how they looked.
I’d also like to give a shout out to the durable, solid packaging. Personally, I destroy the cardboard packaging on most false lashes, so this hard plastic makes it a lot easier to store these reusable falsies.
I mean, if you had told me a few years ago that I’d be wearing false eyelashes, red lipstick and sometimes even bronze lipstick, I’d call you crazy. I’d also wonder how the hell you were telling me my future, but that’s another story.
So, take beauty risks. Wear the crazy lip color, try false lashes and dab on the sparkles. I mean, if it ends up looking terrible or feeling all wrong, there’s a thing called makeup remover wipes, am I right?
