So yesterday I got to attend the HGTV #bloggerblockparty in Manhattan and it was a pretty cool experience. First of all, the venue (once we finally got to it after getting lost many times, good thing I followed these tips for commuting in NYC!) was GORGEOUS. It was definitely an interesting and fun experience!
It was in 404 Studios and the whole place was white but filled with pops of colors, bright doors, string lights and gorgeous paper butterflies. The entire venue was absolutely whimsical.
The steps were multicolored and bright, there were colorful doors everywhere and everything was just so bright and happy. It was hard to get pictures of the venue, though, because there were workers standing everywhere.
There’s a horrid picture of me awkwardly posing with one of the doors for your viewing pleasure. Look at that uncomfortable grin and blurry hand in motion, daaaayum Tyra Banks would be proud.
There was a little seating area that had cute turf and white benches throughout. My friend, Erin, and I decided to take cute converse shoe pictures on it because, of course.
Yes, I’m more of a fashion and beauty blogger, but the part of me that used to want to be an interior designer and the part of me that watches waaaay too much HGTV with my parents was very excited about the event. My friend who was my +1 for the event and I both agreed that while the event was beautiful and interesting, it wasn’t as interactive as we anticipated.
We got to have free photos printed with an HGTV border if you Instagrammed with the #bloggerblockparty hashtag. You could make a miniature terrarium–but you didn’t actually get to make it, a worker made it for you (so that wasn’t interactive). They had a giant sponsored wheel to win prizes if you guessed flowers and a small area where you could paint miniature canvases if you Instagrammed with a certain hashtag.
There were raffles and whatnot, but nothing too interesting. The event was very well put together and we watched a demo of how to DIY art out of fireplaces matches (it was awesome and there was fire) but we didn’t stay for the entire eight hour duration of the event that had various speakers and demos throughout.
I got a free portable charger, a copy of HGTV’s newest magazine, a water bottle that you can put fruit in the middle of to have flavored water, a cute little chevron bag with the HGTV logo and a free Gold Peak green tea (YUM YUM YUM!). The whole event was mostly encouraging a lot of photos and social media coverage, which is fine by me because I’m a social media addict.
Afterwards, we headed to burgers & cupcakes which, as the name says, sells burgers and cupcakes. I got a turkey burger with goat cheese and fries for $12, which is a SERIOUSLY good deal in NYC. Goat cheese is absolutely delicious, I feel so posh whenever I order something with it, you know?
Everything was absolutely delicious. They also served their drinks in mason jars–my friend got lemonade that had some kind of branchy leaf garnish thing in it, it looked pretty. Sadly and surprisingly we did not get cupcakes. Both times I’ve been to this place I haven’t gotten a cupcake because the food is so filling–I never really order dessert at restaurants.
Um, a place called Burgers & Cupcakes is definitely a place that I need to be at, like, all the time. Haha! And that venue looked amazing! I really like all the colorful things (butterflies?) hanging under the stairs.
It’s such a delicious place, definitely somewhere to checkout if you’re in the area! Yep, they were paper butterflies made out of the event guide pamphlets–so pretty! 🙂
it seems like you had an awesome time! I love HGTV (watch it with my mom like every night)! x, kenz

HGTV is such a fun channel to watch–it makes me want to flip houses and stuff haha.
I spent my entire summer watching HGTV, honestly, I’m so jealous! Looks like a super fun event, and cupcakes and burgers is, of course, the perfect ending to a perfect day. I hope you get to try their cupcakes someday!
It was such a pretty event–it’s no surprise that HGTV really knows how to decorate! And I definitely hope to try those cupcakes someday haha.
