Are any of you guys a morning person? Is it possible to be an afternoon person? I think I’m an afternoon person, I don’t love night or day but I like them enough. I love the afternoon though. Anyways. Whether you’re a morning person or not, finding ways to brighten your morning is crucial.

While I can’t make you a morning person, I can help you find a few ways to make the mornings a little better. Without further ado here are ten ways to brighten your morning! P.S. I also wrote about Ways to Speed Up Your Morning if you’re interested!

 

1. Bring your morning coffee to go.

This will help your morning stay brighter for longer. I love these Dixie® To Go cups for crushing my morning. They’re great for hot drinks in the morning like tea or coffee because they keep them hot while I walk to class so when I get to class I can sip & stay awake. By not rushing to drink your coffee and taking it to go, it’ll make you a little happier.

This is also convenient because instead of lugging a thermos back and forth and worrying about it leaking in your bag, these cups are disposable and don’t need to be brought home to be washed and re-used.

2. Plan a breakfast you’ll look forward to.

If I have a fresh bagel, bowl of oatmeal or some other exciting breakfast, I always get more excited in the morning. This is something you can easily do the night before–an easy way to do this is to make overnight oats if you’re a fan of those. There are a ton of recipes on Pinterest.

3. Don’t check social media first.

Typically when I wake up the first thing I do is go on my phone. While going on your phone in the morning in and of itself probably isn’t the best idea, sometimes you just need to check for e-mails or messages. If you insist on going on your phone do something productive or kind like send a good morning text to your mom or significant other.

Maybe even watch one YouTube video of your favorite YouTuber who uploads on that day of the week. Watching a funny video or a video that will make you smile will automatically make your morning a little bit happier!

4. Make your bed.

It might not brighten your morning ASAP, but you’ll thank yourself later on. Your room automatically looks at least a little bit cleaner and your life is a little bit more put together just by taking an extra few minutes to make your bed.

5. Make your to do list for the rest of the day.

This will help you gather all of your thoughts and goals for the day in one place. I like to do this while my coffee brews or while I’m eating breakfast. Typically I’ll sort my to-do list by “Must do today” and “Should get done at some point, not necessarily today.”

6. Listen to a morning playlist.

Play this while you’re getting ready! I like to make new playlists with each season so the songs are up to date. I also pick my favorite songs and the calm, softer morning songs.

Some mornings if I have more time to get ready I prefer to listen to podcasts, Classy Career Girl is a great one.

7. Put some mascara on.

This is totally optional, but personally I find it to be a huge confidence booster. Even if you’re not hugely into makeup, this makes a huge difference and doesn’t take long. Maybe for you wearing your favorite perfume or necklace boosts your mood! If that’s your thing, go for it.

8. Drink a glass of water.

Especially if you’re going to be drinking coffee. Coffee dehydrates you a little bit, so be sure to re-hydrate with some water. If you don’t want to drink water as soon as you wake up, bring some with you to go.

9. Wash your face.

You don’t even want to know all of the oils and germs that are on your pillows and now on your face in the morning (I don’t even want to know) so cleaning your face in the morning is a must. IT can also help to brighten your morning!

10. Wear fun socks.


hoard patterned socks and I firmly believe they make life way more fun. I don’t know about you but wearing socks with brightly colored dinosaurs on them makes my day automatically brighter.

    And whenever I check social media first thing in the morning, I usually end up staying an extra hour as a cozy cinnamon bun in my bed, going through useless things like company stories on Snapchat ._.

    Some people don’t wash their face in the morning????? B r u h.
    (Also, just checked the playlist. I see some of my faves on there, esp Kodaline! “Brand New Day” and “Way Back When” are some of my Kodaline faves. And the acoustic “Don’t Stop” is SO GOOD. My jam last summer!)

    • Yes!! They’re my October go to! Okay, same, same, I feel obligated to look at ALL OF THE THINGS even the Instagrams and Snapchats I don’t care about.

      YES! I need to listen to more Kodaline, they have really pretty songs, I’ll have to check those out
